All candidates who made the Federal University of Technology, Akure their first or/and second choice and obtained a minimum score of 200 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME ) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB ) in June, 2011 are invited for computer- based screening exercise in the University from Wednesday, 17 th August to Friday, 19 th August, 2011. Similarly, candidates who made FUTA their First and Second choice for the Direct Entry Admission for the 2011/2012 academic session are invited for a computer- based Pre-Admission screening exercise on Saturday, 20 th August, 2011. Candidates are to come strictly according to the screening schedule slip obtained automatically from the University website after their registration. Registration Procedure Each candidate is to make a payment of N1, 000 (exclusive of e-transact transaction fee) for the registration and electronic screening processes and N1, 000 for processing and checking of results to the bank for his/her respective School using the e-transact platform at the bank. NOTE: YOU ARE PAYING 2 KINDS OF FEES.

The registration exercise which will commence on Monday, 1 st August, 2011, will close at 12.00 midnight on Friday, 12 th August, 2011.

2. The Venue of the Screening exercise is the Electronic Test Centre, (ETC) “Obakekere Campus” Federal University of Technology, Akure.

2011 Indomie Nigeria Scholarship Award for Postgraduate Students

The Indomie Nigeria National Postgraduate Nutrition Scholarship Awards for postgraduate Students to study Nutrition and Dietetics at master’s level was initiated in 2009. The first round of the scholarship was awarded to 12 Nigerian students to study for Masters Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. So far 24 Nigerian students have benefited from this scholarship since it began in 2009. Application for the 2011 Indomie Nigeria National Postgraduate Nutrition Scholarship, the third edition, is currently open, from now untill 31 August 2011. 12 successful candidates will be awarded scholarship to pursue their masters program for 2011/2012 academic year. As part of its commitment to social responsibilities towards educational empowerment and development of Nigeria , Dufil Prima Foods Plc, maker of Nigeria’ s No 1 children favorite meal, indomie instant noodles is offering Scholarship for Nigerian students studying Nutrition and Dietetics at Postgraduate Degree level. The programme aims to assist in the training of high level Nutrition and Dietetic manpower in the country. It is hoped that over a period of time this will produce a critical mass of highly trained nutritionists that will continue to sustainably chart and guide the way for optimum nutrition for all Nigerians. Eligibility
The postgraduate scholarship is open to all Nigerian students qualified for admission to M. Sc Programme in Nutrition (and Nutrition and Dietetics) in any Nigerian University. Awards will be given to qualified and suitable students from every geopolitical zone of the Federation including the FCT.

The programme is currently based in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB ).

2011/2012 Scholarships for 10000 Ghanian Students by the Government of Ghana

The Federal Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology under the Government of Ghana is providing 10,000 scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian students studying Pure and Applied Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering Courses at the various Secondary, Tertiary and Vocational and Technical schools for the 2011/2012 academic year. Applications for this year's scholarship is open from June 27th 2011.
According to the Sector Minister, Madam Sherry Ayittey, this is the second phase of the Mathematics, Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme (MASTESS) introduced in the 2010/2011 academic year.

Application Guidelines

Interested students can obtain application forms from the various District Education Directorates across the country. Some application forms are also available at the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology in Accra.

Eligibility:

The scholarship targets brilliant but needy students and it is opened to both students who are now enrolling into institutions and continuing students.
Parents, guardians and all interested applicants are urged to respond promptly to the publications by picking forms, completing them and submitting them early to allow the Assessment Committee ample time to review the applications. Students who were also not successful with their applications in the first phase are also encouraged to re-apply.

The committee will use factors extracted from the application form, such as income level of parents, number of siblings who are still in school e.t.c in determining the neediness of an applicant. On the issue of brilliancy, the committee will look at BECE results slips for those enrolling into Senior High Schools and WASSCE result for those entering tertiary institutions. Continuing students' school records will also be considered to determine the brilliancy.

Give 2 Nigeria 2011 Student Essay Contest for Undergraduate and Secondary School Students

Give 2 Nigeria (G2N) invites senior secondaryschool (High Schools) and undergraduates for the Responsible Citizen Student Essay Competition 2011, to submit essay on the subject of Responsible Citizenship.
The aims of the essay contest are: To
* Deepen understanding and appreciation of the expectation and benefits of responsible citizenship;
* Engage students in the debate on the role of citizens in the Nigerian society;
* Strengthen students' research, writing, and reasoning skills; and 
* Develop a culture of giving amongst Nigerian students.


Essay Topic
Each essay submission should cover the following:
1. What are the key responsibilities of Nigerian citizens?
2. Describe your role and impact in a social cause or community initiative?

Who is Eligible?
The essay contest is open to all senior secondary school (high school) and undergraduate students in Nigeria or overseas.


Guideline
Eligible students are invited to submit their original work, highlighting the value of responsible citizenship, as well as their personal contributions to a social cause or community issue. The essay should be no longer than 900 words, in English.

Submission Guideline
Applicants are invited to submit their essays in MS Word or PDF format only to info@give2nigeria.org with "Essay Submission" as the subject of the e-mail.
All informations required, including name, contact information, educational institution, and essay should be included in a single document. One essay is allowed per applicant. Joint submissions are not eligible for the prize.

Submission Deadline
The deadline for submission is August 31, 2011 at 12 a.m. GMT. Winners will be announced on October 1, 2011. All submissions must adhere to contest requirements.

The submitted essays are reviewed and judged by a panel selected by Give 2 Nigeria. The panel will evaluate the essays according to the criteria described and select 1st prize winners, one each, from the senior secondary school and undergraduate level, and 2nd prize winners, one each, from the senior secondary school andundergraduate level.

All winners will receive an award certificate. In line with its effort to encourage a culture of giving while supporting local charities, Give 2 Nigeria will make a cash donation of $500each to two registered charities in Nigeria, selected by each of the first prize winners. In addition, Give 2 Nigeria will make a cash donation of $250 each to two registered charities in Nigeria, selected by each of the second prize winners.
